I have watched cricket and I have even played cricket, but I am still as confused as I was when I was a naive young woman living in Naples!

Cricket does not make sense and maybe that is why the English like it.

 It is the national sport of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka so a lot of people do play it, do enjoy it and do get excited about it!

There are a few good things about cricket which I do enjoy.

1 The game is played in the summer and you can get a tan watching it!
2. The game is usually played in a very picturesque place!

3. You can do lots of things whilst the game is on. Reading, listening to music and still keep an eye on the game. Cricket is so slow!
4. Men look very handsome in white!

There are lots of things that I don't like. Here are a few.

1. I thought the offside rule at football was bad but understanding cricket rules is just impossible. I think all the people who say they understand the rules are 'fibbing'!
2. The game is so slow.
3. When the sun comes out you cannot sunbathe naked. Well you can but you will probably be told to leave the ground!
4. It is difficult to get good food and you have to be there all day!!!!!
5. The matches between countries are called test matches. They last 5 days! And after playing for 5 days you may not even get a result!

At the moment England is playing Australia. This is like a Lazio v Roma derby game. The tournament is called 'The Ashes' and the winner gets a very small cup filled with ashes!

The tournament will be watched by millions of people but people in Italy will not know it is taking place.

Anyone for tennis!!!!

A few weeks ago I was over in the UK. My stay coincided with Wimbledon. Although not a great tennis fan I was drawn into the interest of watching the first British player to win Wimbledon for a long time. I became part of the Murray fever!
