Monday was 'Befana' here in Italy. It is a curious festival and one that keeps the festive spirit going a wee bit longer. Here's what Wikipedia says about it.
In Italian folklore, Befana is an old woman who delivers gifts to children throughout Italy on Epiphany Eve (the night of January 5) in a similar way to Sinterklaas or Santa Claus. But children get both gifts from Santa Claus and the Befana.
In popular folklore Befana visits all the children of Italy on the eve of the Feast of the Epiphany to fill their socks with candy and presents if they are good or a lump of coal or dark candy if they are bad.
Now given that you get sweets if you are good! And coal if you are bad! What do you think I got???
Yes, right first time. A sack full of coal. Which isn't too bad as coal is a lot more expensive than sweets nowadays. Sweets also make you fat whilst coal can give heat and also make a room romantic and sensual. I am happy with the coal!
However, I am thinking of creating a new festival. How many men look forward to a fat man in red appearing in their bedroom? There maybe a few but not many.And how many men look forward to an old lady, witch like in appearance suddenly sauntering around their bed.
Again there maybe some but I would hazzard a guess of not many again.
So what we need is someone who would excite you and you would lie awake hoping to see her enter your boudoir. So I am declaring now that December 28th is 'Festival of Daria'. The week between Christmas and New Year is boring and I would like to bring some excitement into the lives of many men.
On the 'Festival of Daria' a naked fairy enters your room and if you catch a glimpse you can ask any sexual desire or fantasy you want. However, it has to happen between midnight and 2 am and you can only have one wish a year.
Now, the interesting question would be to readers of this blog is what would you ask the fairy? Let me know or even visit me so we can have a trial run before you ask for it.
